The
facility is located on a pleasant six-acre wooded estate in Huntington,
Long Island. Hilaire provides around-the-clock care and treatment
by registered nurses under the direction of the resident's individual
physicians; the community hospital is just a mile away. Physical
and occupational
therapists, and other specialists, are available as needed. Dental
care and podiatry services are performed on the premises.
Meals,
taken either in the main dining room or at bedside, are planned
by a registered dietitian. An activity program is carried out by
personnel trained in therapeutic recreation. Twice-daily activity
programs, designed to satisfy a variety of interests, are supplemented
by special luncheons and other events. Religious services of all
denominations are scheduled as part of the weekly routine.
Visiting
is strongly encouraged and made more convenient by a lack of restricted
visiting hours. Indoor and outdoor settings provide private and
pleasant areas for visits with family and friends. The professional
staff is available to meet with family members, and the Social Worker
meets with all new residents and their families in order to better
understand any particular problems, and to provide ongoing support.
All residents will be urged to reach their fullest potential in
the areas of emotional and physical health, in an atmosphere which
continually offers encouragement and help.
